This week is about being competent not trying to be perfect.

 Quote

"Too many people spend too much time trying to perfect at something before they actually do it. Instead of waiting for perfection, run with what you've got, and fix it along the way."  — Paul Arden

Being comfortable with good enough instead of being a perfectionist is not about complacency, it's about understanding that striving for perfection is rarely necessary. Even the Apollo mission to the moon was off course the majority of the time.  There was no way to be perfect as there were too many unknown factors in space.

Today's Coaching Challenge

When you have a new project to complete do you keep pushing out the starting date wanting every little detail to be perfect or do you create your plan, get the initial requirements met then get started and adjust as you go?

If your inclination is towards the former, wanting things perfect, do you find that you don't accomplish as much as when you just get going and revise as needed? Are you wanting to control the situation or do you need more information?

Action to take

Think of something that you would like to do that you have not yet started; exercising, scheduling a meeting with a prospective client, even a home improvement project.  Then be honest with yourself and acknowledge what is holding you back from getting started.   Once you have that answer get going and trust that you can adjust as needed.

Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
