This month the topic is about having more happiness. We create our happiness, it's not something that can be given to us or purchased.  Sometimes we may stifle it so, let's look at a few ways we can open ourselves up to the happiness that is already available to us.  This week is about deciding to be happy.

"Happiness is a choice, not a result.  Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. "-- Ralph Marston

Many times, people think that they can achieve happiness when an event happens or they acquire a material object.  This is not how happiness works.  Just like self-confidence, happiness is not a continuous condition, it has to be recreated daily or sometimes moment by moment.  What may not be apparent is that happiness is a choice, you choose to be happy or not.

Today's Coaching Challenge

When you wake up each morning what are your first thoughts?  Do you think that you are going to have a great day or are you dreading it?  Which thoughts would help you have a good day?

Being in a state of happiness is simple but not always easy. Indeed, some of the situations you face may make being happy a little harder but it's still your choice.  You might think "I know this is going to be a challenging day and I choose to make it great.  I would rather decide to be happy than let the world decide for me".  You alone know what makes you feel happy, it might be certain friends, music, or activities, so when you need a boost of happiness do one of those things.

Action to take

The next time something comes up that might be a challenge ask yourself "Do I want to be happy in spite of this or do I want this to bring me down"?  Then tomorrow morning when you wake up ask yourself "Do I want to be happy today".

Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
