This month's topic is about letting go which encompasses many things ranging from letting go of things and clutter to letting go of holding on to grudges and everything in between.  Life is changing very rapidly as we discussed last month and there's no sign of it slowing down.  So, with all these changes, we could probably let go of something every day of our lives.  This week will be about letting go of keeping score with others.

"Relationships are about give and take, not tit-for-tat.  If you're keeping score, you'll lose at your own game." -- Faydra D. Fields

Some people place a high value on making sure they get what they believe is coming to them (getting their due).  They want reciprocal action for everything they do.  I did this for you, what are you going to do for me?  Placing your focus on keeping score is a waste of your energy and doesn't foster healthy relationships.

Today's Coaching Challenge

Consider how much time you would save by just doing something for someone else and then going on with your day not being concerned with when or whether they were going to do something for you.

I firmly believe that any good I do for others or kindness I show is because it is the right thing to do without any desire for payback.  Keeping score should be used in football, basketball, soccer, and the like but not in relationships.

Action to take

What could you do for someone today without having any desire for payback?  You may find that not only will the receiver appreciate it but it will give you a good feeling too and save you from having to remember who owes who what.

Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
